The UP Squared i12 (UPS-ADLP/UPS-RAP) is the world’s smallest motherboard to host onboard 12/13th Generation Intel® Core™/Celeron® Processor 7000 processors (formerly Alder Lake P/Raptor Lake). On a form factor measuring 85.6mm × 90mm, the UP Squared i12 is comparable in size to the PICO form factor, but with the added benefit of being a platform for development.
Aiding its utility as a board for developers to build industrial applications, the UP Squared i12 is equipped with a Raspberry Pi-compatible 40-pin header, augmenting the traditionally barebones-style kit with Core i power that exceeds the capabilities of most industrial motherboards.
12/13th Gen power also comes with its own benefits, such as improved speed and efficiency in processing capability when compared to both its predecessors and competitors’ larger solutions built on the PICO form factor. The hybrid processor architecture of the 12/13th Gen platform boast up to 4 performance and 8 efficient cores for greater workload management, and with Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology, the execution of complex tasks is expedited.
Given its compact size and selection of incredibly powerful 12/13th Gen embedded CPUs, the UP Squared i12 contains a remarkable number of high-speed interfaces, the functionality of which are enhanced by its onboard LPDDR5 system memory. Two MIPI-CSI camera connectors are joined by three display outputs, GbE LAN, and both physical and internal USB interfaces.
It is not just the board’s Raspberry Pi-compatible 40-pin header that offers expansion for additional functions, as the UP Squared i12 is also home to expansion slots supporting AI Acceleration and Wi-Fi Modules, along with expandable SSD-based storage, NVMe, and SATA III.
